Sergeantsville, Farmers Market
Date: May 1, 2008 to September 7, 2008

From Alpacas to Zuchinni!

the Farmer's Market of Segeantsville.

Starting in May 2008 Abenaki Acres will return to the Sergeantsville Farmer's  Market each Saturday Morning (weather permitting) with alpacas and fleece products from our herd.

It is great fun to introduce people to alpacas and the fleece they produce.  We never tire of answering the usual questions - "do they spit", "do you eat them", etc.

Come join us and the other local farms at the Sergeantsville Farmer's Market.

Shearing is done - Now what do we do?
Date: June 14, 2008 to June 14, 2008

Join us in learning from Wini Lebrecque and Leslie Jorittsma about fleece preparation for production and the issues we need to be aware of as we get our fleece transformed from raw fiber into finished products.  Preparing a fleece for show or your mill will be covered and demonstrations of mill equipment are also included.

Autumn Mist Fiber Mill will have a part fo their mill on-site showing us how the raw fleece is turned into yarn.

Bring fleece for Autumn Mist to process for you.

Registration from 8-9am

Seminar will adjourn between 4-5pm

Cost $60 per person and $40 for the 2nd person from ther same farm. (Seminar materials, refreshments, continental breakfast and lunch included)  A 20% Discount for NJAC members and Abenaki Acres clients is available.

From the National Elite Auction website:

"Cas-Cad-Nac Farm and Virginia Alpaca Farm & Breeding Co. would like to thank all of the alpaca enthusiasts who attended the 2007 National Elite Alpaca Auction! New and experienced breeders alike, because of your enthusiasm this inaugural event was a smashing success. By braving the heat you got to connect with other alpaca folk, enjoy great food and take in a very impressive auction lineup. As the organizers and hosts of this premier event we of course learned a thing or two as well and we very much look forward to making the 2008 National Elite even better than the first."

Abenaki is consigning a female to this auction - our choice will be posted shortly - check back to see who is made available.
